Going to Kaathe doesn't automatically make Anor Londo dark, that only happens if you off Gwynevere. The only "bad" thing that will happen if you go to Kaathe is that Frampt will be angry and leave you. You lose out on the opportunity to join the Darkwraith covenant if you choose Frampt, but otherwise there are no gameplay differences. Just different dialogue and a different final cutscene.
