What kills Alduin?
Alduin can only be killed by the Dragonborn. Other characters will only cause him to become "downed" like essential dragons. If the Dragonborn uses Healing Hands on Alduin while he is downed, he will regain all of his health. It is possible for Storm Call to sometimes ignore Alduin while he is downed.Why doesn t the Dragonborn absorb Alduin?
Alduin's soul was absorbed by Sovngarde itself once his mortal body was destroyed. This marks one of the only times where you don't absorb a dragon's soul upon killing its' mortal form. In short, every living thing in Skyrim has a soul, and those souls go to various places upon mortal death.What does Alduin drop when he died?
No magical item or quest reward. You don't even get a dragon soul, because you never technically killed Alduin at all. He's very much alive, and he'll be back when the cycle demands him.
