- Enter the house early in the morning, when Hroggar isn't there.
- Enter the basement, crouch in a corner, and wait/skip until Alva leaves.
- Retrieve her journal, then exit the basement.
- Wait at the bottom of the stairs until Hroggar leaves, then exit the house.
